Hedge funds are unique in that the fund's manager is able to use strategies
such as borrowing and derivatives to secure a higher return on the fund.
Hedge Funds are typically more high-risk than mutual funds. Though they
are monitored cautiously by experienced investors, there is still a chance
that the fund can depreciate. Statistically, though, individuals who invest
in hedge funds often make a great deal of profit in a short time period.
As with anything in the financial spectrum, there are no guarantees.
